The Leg Up Design Contest

Last week we told you guys we had some exciting news to announce...drum roll...KON has joined forces with THUNDAMENTALS to provide you with fresh merch to rock to spot.

Respected Sydney Hip Hop crew THUNDAMENTALS have been getting your heads nodding from bedrooms to festivals across Oz since their self titled E.P in 2008.

To celebrate THUNDAMENTALS impending release of their sophomore album FOREVERLUTION Along with their recent signing with Sydney clothing label KING OF NOTHING apparel, THUNDAMENTALS & KON are offering a unique opportunity to all up and coming artists + designers around Australia to design THUNDAMENTALS new T-Shirt!

Artists and Designers are encouraged to be as creative as possible with their designs, entrants will be shortlisted and judged by a panel of hotshots from the Art and Hip-Hop community and Thundamentals Fans. The winning design will be sold on tour and in stores nationwide

Winners will receive a KON / THUNDAMENTALS prizepack which will include $500 cash, tickets to THUNDAMENTALS album launch tour, a signed copy of the coming album, and a one off T-Shirt in the colourway of your choice.

The theme for the T-Shirt should be inspired by THUNDAMENTALS new single PAINT THE TOWN RED.

FOREVERLUTION

When KON artist Pencil Rebellion agreed to rock the cover art for the Thundamentals highly anticipated sophomore album 'FOREVERLUTION' we knew it would be nothing short of epic.

KON scored a sneak peek at the two options for the album due for release on the 29th of July through Obese Records.

So without further a due feast your eyes on this and be sure to cop yourself a copy when it drops!

Happenings

Whats up KON Kids!

Been a bit slack on the posting department having too much fun getting amongst it, as well as working on some dope collab's and ventures your definitely going to dig!

Firstly KON Homie The Tongue  rocked the Big Top to a sold out crowd at Luna Park for COME TOGETHER alongside some of OZ Hip Hop's finest.

Secondly last Wednesday was the first semi-final of Secret Wars Sydney which saw KON go toe to toe with SPRINKLES for a place in the final. Unfortunately victory was not ours and Sprinkles came out on top. It was a killer night, big up to Sprinks and Shannon from Secret Wars, and to everyone who came down to the OAF to show love. Watch this space for more info on a live art project in the coming weeks, it gonna be tight!

Below are some photo's from our resident photographer Chris Frape for both events.

Sidewayz 2011

Last Saturday the KON Kids went north to The National Grid gallery to celebrate the opening of the Aussie slopes and check out some Rad artwork on recycled skateboards and snowboards at the Sidewayz Exhibition.

Big ups to Balmoral Boards and Westsyde Connection for putting on a killer with plenty of Grolsch and Canadian Club to wet the taste buds. Also cheers for the globe longboard door prize, frothing!

KON and Louis Bressington had decks in the exhibition with all the proceeds going to two worthy charities- the Christchurch earthquake appeal and the Japanese earthquake and tsunami relief.

You can check them out along with a haul of other dope designs here.

The online bidding has begun you can place yours here.

Finally here are some flicks from the night.

Peace.
